Pick up plastic, the Earth thanks you! – clean-up campaign for a cleaner environment

World Environment Day, 5 June, was celebrated this year by the Public Institute of Krka National Park with the campaign “Pick up plastic, the Earth thanks you!”, aimed at raising awareness about the global problem of environmental pollution.

Participants in the campaign collected garbage throughout the county, and took photographs with the motivating slogan, in order to jointly send the message about the importance of preserving the environment we live in.

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June, to mark the date in 1972 when the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was held in Stockholm, which resulted in the adoption of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This year, the official topic at the global level for the celebration of World Environment Day is #BeatPlasticPollution and all activities are aimed at raising awareness about the worldwide problem of plastic pollution.

All collected garbage was taken away by the municipal services companies from Šibenik, Skradin, Drniš and Knin, and all waste was disposed of properly immediately after its collection. Numerous organisations, schools and preschools participated in the clean-up campaign, and we would like to thank them once again: Drniš Kindergarten, Mali Mihovil – Smilje Kindergarten in Šibenik, Sunce Kindergarten in Brodarica, Šibenski tići – Smilje Kindergarten in Šibenik, Žižula Kindergarten in Meterize, Žižula Kindergarten in Skradin, Catholic Primary School in Šibenik, Dr. Franjo Tuđman Primary School in Knin, Petar Krešimir IV Primary School in Šibenik.
