Green Clean 2019

Once again, this year the Krka National Park is a part of an international project – Green Clean/World Cleanup.

The Krka National Park has joined the global volunteering action Green Clean/World Clean Up. The cleaning project was held on Friday the 20th of September 2019 in the area of the settlements of Lozovac, Goriš, and Brnjica on the left bank of the Krka River in the immediate vicinity of the borders of the National park. Staff of the Krka National Park in cooperation with volunteers from the Croatian Matrix Poets Branch, the Commission for Nature Conservation of the Croatian Mountaineering Association, and with the help of the local population, cleared a hectare of illegal landfill in the Dalmatian karst landscape. Mostly small and medium-sized household waste, plastic and glass containers and bottles, and some construction waste were collected.

Green Clean is a joint single day project to clean up illegal dumps and represents the largest volunteer eco-project in Croatia, bringing together active citizens and organizations, and is part of a major global action called World Cleanup, launched in 2008. It is based on raising awareness of the importance of responsible waste management for conservation of the environment, nature, and the planet Earth.

Let's do it Croatia! One day. One planet. One goal. Millions of people in one hundred and fifty countries have united in the greatest civil action in the history of mankind to clean our planet. On September 20, volunteers and organizations around the world together collect trash from beaches, rivers, forests, and streets. The powerful “green wave” of cleaning will start in New Zealand and end thirty-six hours later in Hawaii. During it, millions of people will work together to achieve one goal: a cleaner and healthier planet.

We would like to thank all the volunteers for their time, help, and good humor!
