World Environment Day

On Sunday, 4 June 2017, the Public Institute of Krka National Park celebrated World Environment Day at the children's playground in Skradin with a diverse programme of games, workshops and performances for children.

The programme began at 5 pm with the play “A story that holds water” performed by the Antuntun Society for combatting boredom from Samobor. The play has an ecological and educational character, and educates children through play and fun about the importance of water for Planet Earth and for the health of all living creatures.

The programme continued with numerous games, including rope tows, sack races and more, followed by the play “Little Red Riding Hood” by the Virko theatre ensemble from Šibenik at 8 pm.

The programme to celebrate World Environment Day included the Priroda Public Institute of Šibenik-Knin County, with educational lectures, and the Krka Eco-society from Knin, with the decoration of cardboard boxes for plastic caps, that will be distributed to institutions in Skradin.

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5 June, on the anniversary of the UN Conference on the Environment held in Stockholm (1972), when the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) was adopted.
