The Public Institution of Krka National Park is once again joining the global volunteer campaign Green Cleanup this year.
The cleanup will take place on Friday the 21st of April 2017 at 9 am at the approach to the educational pedestrian pathway of Brnjica – the Čikola River bed in the settlement of Brnjica (on the Šibenik – Drniš road).
The staff of the Krka National Park, in cooperation with volunteers from the Veterans Social Cooperative “Branitelj”, volunteers from the Slovenian Association of Cultural Professionals “Dr. France Prešeren” (the Planika - Runolist Nature Lovers section) from Šibenik, volunteers from the Ecological Association "Monte Promona" from Siverić, and the local inhabitants will help clean the illegal trash dump in the settlement of Brnjica near the educational pedestrian path of the Krka National Park. An illegal waste dump over an area of around 1 hectare containing mostly small and medium sized household waste items will be cleaned on this occasion.
Green Cleanup is a one-day campaign to remove illegal waste dumps and represents the largest volunteer eco-project in Croatia, bringing together active citizens and organizations, and is part of the major international campaign World Cleanup, launched in 2008. It aims to raise awareness of the importance of responsible waste management with the aim of protecting the environment, nature, and the planet Earth.
